Tell me about your kidneys

Calling on all patients, but especially those with kidney ailments. I have been in the Assess AKI (Acute Kidney Injury) study since 2011, and on August 14 and 15, 2017, I will be on a patients’ panel at the Kidney Precision Medicine Project.

I was fortunate in 1990 to recover kidney function after a short time on dialysis (after ACL surgery, blood clots and pulmonary embolism). So I hardly think I qualify to say much about a kidney patient’s experience.

Which is why I would like to hear from you. What are your hopes and fears, likes and dislikes about doctors, hospitals, dialysis, transplants? If you could say one thing to an assembly of scientists and doctors, what would it be? Precision kidney medicine? What would that be to you? What would you want from it?

  1. Would you please post a synopsis of the comments and results of the discussion? This would be very interesting in a general sense for many medical issues. I cannot comment on kidney issues per se but I would like an expert ombudsman be available to help decipher options, terms, consequences when having or in the middle of a medical issue (major).
