Four Pacific Northwest players in loss to Australia

Four Pacific Northwest rugby players saw action in the U.S. national team’s loss to Australia Saturday at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Eagles stayed with the Aussies through the first half, trailing by only four points at halftime, 14-10. But Australia added five more tries in the second half and Bernard Foley had six conversion kicks in the 47-10 win.

Titi Lamositele of Bellingham started for the Eagles. Olive Filifi, Louis Stanfill and Shalom Suniula, who all play for the Seattle Saracens, entered the game in the second half.

USA Rugby reported the attendance as 23,212. The Eagles open play in the Rugby World Cup in England against Samoa on Sept. 20 in Brighton.
