A few days before we checked into our overnight accommodations, we sent them an email asking these questions:

Do we need a dinner reservation?Do you need our estimated time of arrival? Can you pack us a lunch for the next day? We plan to pay with credit cards; is that OK?
We got this response from the George Hotel in Chollerford:
Hi John
I would say that it is always prudent to book a table for dinner. Dinner is served from 5pm til 8:30pm. I note that you will have a dog in one of your rooms. Dogs are welcome throughout the hotel except for the restaurant but I can book you a table in our Chesters Lounge which is dog friendly. What time would you like to book a table?
Nick
We responded:
That is not our dog! We do not have a dog and do not plan to adopt one in the next few days.

Hi John
I think I misread the dog free request on one of the rooms. Sorry about that. Which one of you is allergic to dogs?
Nick,
Neither of us is allergic to dogs.
Hi John,
Thanks for confirming!
Our imaginary dog was not mentioned while we stayed through our rest day.
