“And did the King always slobber like that?”

“Was that figure of fun at the end of the table with her hair rigged up like a Maypole really the Queen?”

About the authors

This started as a blog to record the 2015 trip to the Rugby World Cup in England and has since become a site to capture thoughts and images from more recent travels. John B. Saul and his wife, Kathleen, are both retired from The Seattle Times. John has taught reporting, writing and editing at the University of Montana, Seattle University, the University of Washington and Everett Community College. Kathleen put up with John's 37 years of playing rugby and worked at The Seattle Times for 38. She is known as "The Pie Lady." Never turn down a piece of pie from her.

Reynolds Roost on the Road

Life is a journey. We are on yet another one as we  zigzag our way across the USA this summer. The plan is to reach Cumberland Gap National Park in the Applachian Mountains before turning around and heading back to the Spokane area.  We are traveling in our trusty 26 foot, 2006 Artic Fox travel trailer pulled by a 2010 GMC Sierra truck. Mom, Margaret, is with John and me.  Why should she stay home and read the blog when she can be part of the journey? I’ll try to keep it current with travel updates and photos for you to enjoy…or ponder…or laugh at...as the miles roll past us. Cherish the journey!
